Ayurvedic Remedies & Diet to Cure Diabetes

Ayurveda is all about living in harmony with nature. We all eat what nature offers. Mother Nature is the one that gives us water to drink. Even the air we breathe is provided by nature. We are what nature makes of us and therefore, Ayurveda believes that there is no disease that cannot be cured with what nature has to provide.

Previously, we read about the various herbs and vegetables, that if consumed by a diabetic patient, can work magic and cure them from the disease. Well, Ayurveda recommends the same home remedies that our ancestors used before medicines and insulin took over.

Here are some of the magical concoctions that Ayurveda recommends in order to cure Diabetes:

  • You already know the power of bitter gourd and how it helps in preventing and curing diabetes. Drinking at least one teaspoon of bitter gourd juice will reduce the blood sugar levels in our body in no time.
  • Gooseberries are also a good supplement for diabetes. Its juice, mixed with bitter gourd juice, can help the pancreas to secrete sufficient quantity of insulin that our body needs.
  • Drinking water brewed with bael leaves, basil leaves and neem leaves early in the morning with an empty stomach is also ideal to bring down the sugar level in our body.
  • Fenugreek seeds or methi, as we have discussed earlier, has great medicinal value when it comes to diabetes. Hence, a mixture of fenugreek seeds with turmeric and white pepper mixed in a glass of milk can do wonders.
  • Mix and grind seeds of Fenugreek (100 gm), turmeric (50gm) and white pepper and take one teaspoon of this powder with a glass of milk twice daily.

These concoctions, though might not be palpable, can work wonders for a diabetic patient if taken regularly. Ayurveda believes that it’s all in the diet and lifestyle. It is the way how we live and what we eat that determines the condition of our body and mind.

Diabetes is one disease which can be severely aggravated by the wrong kind of diet. Hence, Diet planning is the basis of managing Diabetes:

  • Avoid sugar or any fruit or vegetable that has high sugar content. Rice, potato, banana, cereals, mangoes, pears, grapes, etc. should all be avoided.
  • Include bitter gourd, gooseberry, or any other bitter food in your meal daily.
  • Green leafy vegetables, black gram, soy products and fish can do wonders to a Diabetic patient, if consumed daily.
  • Raw vegetables & herbs are a must as a part of the diet of a Diabetic.
